Marco Roque de Freitas

Marco Roque de Freitas é etnomusicólogo, Professor Auxiliar (Tenure) no Departamento de Ciências Musicais da NOVA FCSH e investigador integrado no Instituto de Etnomusicologia – Centro de Estudos em Música e Dança (INET-md) da Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, onde assume a co-coordenação da linha temática Estudos de Mulheres, Género e Sexualidade. Os seus interesses teóricos centram-se nos seguintes tópicos:

• Construção sonora de nações e nacionalismo no continente africano;
• Comportamento expressivo, género e sexualidade;
• Cultura expressiva e políticas da memória na Região Autónoma da Madeira;
• Popular music e o estudo das indústrias da música;
• Música, propaganda e conflito;
• Teatro musical, voz e imaginação racial;
• Humanidades digitais e infraestruturas de investigação;
• Ética na investigação científica e História da Etnomusicologia.

Marco Roque de Freitas is an ethnomusicologist, Assistant Professor (Tenure) in the Department of Musical Sciences at NOVA FCSH, and an integrated researcher at the Institute of Ethnomusicology – Centre for Studies in Music and Dance (INET-md) at NOVA University Lisbon, where he co-coordinates the thematic line Studies on Women, Gender and Sexuality. His theoretical interests focus on the following topics:

• Nation-building and nationalism in postcolonial Africa;
• Expressive behaviour, gender and sexuality;
• Expressive culture and memory politics in the Autonomous Region of Madeira;
• Popular music and the study of music industries;
