Marília Beatriz Leal Salvador Conti Higa is a doctoral candidate at NOVA School of Law and a fellow of the Foundation for Science and Technology. With a degree in Law from the University of Uberaba and a specialization in Public Administration Law from the Federal University of Uberlândia, she is currently the project manager of the CALESA project within the University of Málaga, which is a capacity building and research project funded by the Erasmus+ programme and implemented by Higher Education Institutions and the Philippine Judicial Academy in the Philippines and Universities in Portugal, Ireland and Spain.
She worked as a project manager on the "Intra-Africa PaxLusófona" project (a project funded by the European Union to the tune of over 1 million euros) at the Faculty of Law of the Agostinho Neto University (Angola). Her professional experience includes teaching Constitutional Law and Research Methodology at the Faculdade de Talentos Humanos in Uberaba-MG, Brazil, as well as coordinating lato sensu postgraduate courses at the same institution.
As a researcher, she is a member of CEDIS (NOVA School of Law's research center), through which she has participated in various projects such as "Lisbon: a model city for the inclusion of deaf people", selected for funding under the NOVA SAÚDE Strategic Platform, and "Development cooperation and education law in PALOP higher education systems: the cases of Angola, Cape Verde and São Tomé and Príncipe", also selected for funding, but this time by the Camões Institute. She was also a member of the team, as a senior researcher, of an initiative led and organized by UNODC - United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, called "Education for Justice".
Her doctoral research is carried out in the area of Legal Theory and Legal Research Methodology, focusing on the nature and quality of scientific-legal research and its relationship with the Science of Law.
