Mário Ramos is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering (DCEA) and an integrated member of the Marine and Environmental Sciences Centre (MARE). He performs research and participates in national and international projects in the field of waste management, focusing on several areas such as: municipal waste; waste streams, with an emphasis on construction and demolition waste; planning and policy instruments; the circular economy; behavioural change related to waste management, with particular concern for illegal dumping; among others. In integrated waste management, he teaches courses within the DCEA and collaborates with other departments, as well as with other schools at NOVA University Lisbon. Previously, in a professional capacity, he worked in both the public and private sectors, performing environmental impact assessments, monitoring work in a wide range of contexts, including managing the environmental components of projects in the construction industry. In terms of his academic background, he holds a PhD in Environment and Sustainability, as well as a master’s and a degree (pre-Bologna, 5 years) in Environmental Engineering, from NOVA.
