He holds a PhD in Environment and Sustainability, and an MSc and a BSc (5 years, pre-Bologna) in Environmental Engineering, from NOVA School of Science and Technology (NOVA FCT), NOVA University Lisbon. He is currently a researcher at ARNET - Aquatic Research Network / MARE - Marine and Environmental Sciences Centre, in the Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering at NOVA FCT. He has been developing his research in the field of waste/resources management, involving distinct areas: urban waste, waste streams (with a focus on construction and demolition waste), illegal dumping, planning and policy instruments, the circular economy, and behaviour change concerning waste management. He also teaches on the following courses at NOVA FCT: MSc in Environmental Engineering, MSc in Sustainable Urbanism and Spatial Planning, and Post-Graduate Studies in Sustainable Construction and Rehabilitation. Previously, in a professional capacity, he performed environmental impact assessments in various areas, as well as managing the environmental component of projects and construction works. In this context, he was employed in both the public and private sectors.
