Luís Silva holds a B.A. (4 years) in Social Anthropology (1995), a M.Phil. in Anthropology: Heritage and Identities (2000), and a Ph.D. in Anthropology (2007) granted by the ISCTE – Lisbon University Institute, Portugal. Currently, he is a Senior Research Fellow at the CRIA - Centre for Research in Anthropology, New University of Lisbon (CRIA NOVA FCSH), under the FCT Scientific Employment Stimulus 2017 Individual programme. He published 24 articles in international and national scientific journals, as well as 13 chapters in international and national books, most of which as single author. He is also author of 4 national books (monographies), co-author of 1 national book, and co-editor of 1 international book and 1 journal issue. He received 6 research grants from the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). He has a continued experience of research from funded projects since 1993. He took part in 16 research projects, 8 of which as team member and 2 of which were international. He was a national delegate at the COST Action TU 1401 - "Renewable Energy and Landscape Quality" (2014-2018). He is author and co-author of about 40 international and national conference presentations. His main research interests include rural tourism, ecotourism, cultural heritage, governmentality, national identity, international frontiers, traditional water mills, renewable energy and low-carbon energy transitions. He conducted research in mainland Portugal, the Azores archipelago, and the Spanish region of Extremadura.
