K. Zalewska Patrício graduated in Organic Chemical Technology at the Silesian University of Technology, Gliwice, Poland in 2009. In 2014 she obtained her PhD in Sustainable Chemistry (Universidade Nova de Lisboa, FCT). She continues as PostDoc researcher in "Cultural Heritage and Responsive Materials" group,(CHARM,also known as Photochemistry and Supramolecular Chemistry Group). Her scientific interest is related with the development of new chiral ionic liquids (CILs) derived from natural scaffolds (aminoacids, nucleobases, bile acids) and their application for chiral discrimination processes, including in asymmetric synthesis and resolution of racemates. More recently, she have been working in the INOVA4AQUA project (funding by MAR2020 program, 2017-2020, 34 months) in order to develop novel polymeric and porous materials for adsorption processes in the purification of aquaculture effluents. Additionally, the most promissory polymers can be integrated in membranes to improve the water purification systems (collaboration with Prof. Isabel Marrucho IST). Recently, she initiated some work in modern photocatalytic processes, which are essential in a variety of fields including purification processes for water, material science and pharmaceutical applications. She has already partnership with Dr. G. Guirado (UAB-Spain for development of smart materials) and Prof. P. M. Esteves (UFRJBrazil, development of novel Covalent Organic Frameworks).
