Personal information
José Pinto holds a degree in Music, with a specialisation in Musicology, from the University of Minho. He completed a Master’s in Musicology at NOVA University Lisbon – School of Social Sciences and Humanities (NOVA FCSH), where he developed the thesis "A música e o som na Trilogia de Deus de João César Monteiro". He is currently a PhD candidate in Musicology at NOVA FCSH and an FCT fellow. His research explores the role of music in the films of João César Monteiro, situating the director’s "musical work" within the broader framework of Portuguese and European cinema in the second half of the 20th century.
