Research interests

John S. Huffstot is Adjunct Assistant Professor of English language and Communication for Business and Management at the Nova School of Business and Economics. He received his PhD in History from the University of Lisbon. His research interests include money of the Late Antique/Early Mediaeval period. He is published in journals including the American Journal of Numismatics (American Numismatic Society), Gaceta Numismática (Asociacion Numismática Española), NVMMVS (Sociedade Portuguesa de Numismática), and other publications, including those of the Archaeological Institute of America, Instituto Português de Arqueologia, Universidade Lusíada de Lisboa, Revista Cultural de Portalegre, Clube Numismático de Portugal, Spink & Son, and various congresses.

He is a poet – published in the Quarterly Review (UK) and online, and translator: Mediaeval Portuguese verse (Morte de D. Inês de Castro (Garcia de Resende, Cancioneiro Geral, 1516); and several books of history.

Since 2003 he has served on the Board of the Portuguese Fulbright Commission, where he is the senior member.
