João Santos joined Nova School of Business and Economics as a Visiting Professor in September 2011.
João Santos currently serves as Vice President of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Prior to joining the bank in 2000, he was an Economist at the Bank for International Settlements and previously, an Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland.
His research interests include financial systems design, banking, banking regulation and corporate finance. His articles have been published in various academic journals including the Journal of Finance, Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Monetary Economics, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Journal of Banking and Finance, European Economic Review, Journal of Financial Intermediation, Journal of Money Credit and Banking, and in various Federal Reserve publications.
João Santos is a Fellow of the Wharton Financial Institutions Center since 2003, and a Member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Money, Credit and Banking, of the Journal of Financial Economic Policy and of the Journal of Financial Services Research. He has also participated in numerous scientific and program committees.
Current research interests include: Banking, banking regulation, the design of financial systems, and corporate finance.
