Research interests

Ilya Okhmatovskiy is Gulbenkian Assistant Professor of Strategy. Previously he taught at McGill University and at the University of Southern California, where he obtained a Ph.D. degree in Business Administration. His research interests focus on strategic management, corporate governance, and entrepreneurship in the context of emerging economies.

Ilya studied how affiliation with the state affects firms’ performance, how firms are redefining standards of good corporate governance, and how state ownership may generate trust in turbulent institutional environments. His research was supported by several grants and published in Organization Science, Organization Studies, Journal of Management Studies, Journal of World Business, and other journals.

Ilya is a member of the editorial board at Corporate Governance: An International Review and Management and Organization Review. He is currently teaching Advanced Strategy and Applied Entrepreneurship courses in the Masters in Management program.
