Francisco Rui Cádima is Full Professor of the Communication Sciences Department - FCSH/NOVA FCSH University. He is also coordinator of the Doctoral Program in Communications Sciences and also coordinator of the New Media Master's degree program offered by the same Communication Sciences Department. He is the Principal Investigator (PI) of ICNOVA - NOVA Instutute of Communication research center: http://www.icnova.fcsh.unl.pt He was member of the Scientific Council of the Nova School of Social Sciences and Humanities (2013-2017) - FCSH (Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas – FCSH) of NOVA university (Universidade Nova de Lisboa). And he was also Vice-President of CIMJ (2013-2017) the Media & Journalism Research Center. He is currently a board member of the journal Media & Jornalismo (ed: CIMJ). He was Director of Obercom - Observatório da Comunicação (Communication Observatory), from 1999-2004. He was the representative of Portugal at UNESCO's International Programme for the Development of Communication (IPDC) (2001-05). He was also Director of Observatório, a scientific publication edited by Obercom (1999-2004). He was adjunct-director of Communication and Languages journal (ed: CECL) and also of Tendências XXI - Audiovisual - Telecommunications - Multimedia, a scientific publication edited by APDC. He has a PhD in Communication (FCSH-UNL, July 1993) with a dissertation entitled Political System and Information News on RTP (Portugal's Public Broadcasting station) Under the Portuguese Dictatorship (1957-1974).
