Emanuel Gomes (Ph.D. in Management from Coventry University) is a Professor in Strategy and International Business at Nova SBE, where he is also the Associate Dean for Processes and Digital Transformation, and the Academic Director of Executive Education. Previously, he was the Deputy Head of the Strategy and International Business department at the University of Birmingham, Birmingham Business School (UK). He is the author of three books and over fifty international peer-reviewed journal articles such as, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of World Business, Journal of Organizational Behavior, British Journal of Management, Long Range Planning, International Journal of Operations and Production Management. He is the Regional Editor (Europe) of the Journal of Knowledge Management and acts as a reviewer to various international refereed journals. He has acted as a Scientific Committee member and as a Co-Chair at various international conferences. His specialized research areas are international mergers, acquisitions and strategic alliances, strategic renewal, strategic agility, and servitization. His teaching is specialized in the areas of International Business, Strategic Management, Business Model Innovation, and Managing International Strategic Alliances, Mergers and Acquisitions. With the objective of bridging theory and practice, he continuously endeavors and strives to make every teaching and learning experience theoretical sound and as practical and applicable as possible. To this end, he uses teaching and learning technologies. Following a constructivist teaching and learning approach, he involves students in authentic problem-solving and decision-making projects with the objective to help them develop complex problem-solving skills as well as domain expertise.
He has been involved in various research projects involving government bodies like the UK Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House), UK Trade and Industry department, The British Embassy in Angola, the Angola President Foundation (Fundacao Eduardo dos Santos), and multinationals like MG Motor (former Rover), UNIPART, and others.
Current research interests include: International mergers and acquisitions; strategic alliances; microfoundations of strategy; strategic agility; product/service innovation; and firm internationalisation; particularly in the African context.

Emanuel Gomes (Ph.D. em Gestão pela Universidade de Coventry, UK) é professor de Estratégia e Negócios Internacionais na Nova SBE, onde é também o Associate Dean para Processos e Transformação Digital, e o Diretor Académico de Executive Education. Anteriormente, foi Diretor Adjunto do departamento de Estratégia e Negócios Internacionais da Universidade de Birmingham, Birmingham Business School (Reino Unido). É autor de três livros e de mais de cinquenta artigos em revistas internacionais com revisão por pares tais como, o Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of World Business, Journal of Organizational Behavior, British Journal of Management, Long Range Planning, International Journal of Operations and Production Management. É o Editor Regional (Europa) do Journal of Knowledge Management e actua como revisor de várias revistas internacionais de referência. Foi membro do comité científico e co-chair de várias conferências internacionais. As suas áreas de investigação especializadas são as fusões, aquisições e alianças estratégicas internacionais, a renovação estratégica, a agilidade estratégica e a servitização.
O seu ensino é especializado nas áreas de Negócios Internacionais, Gestão Estratégica, Inovação de Modelos de Negócio, e Gestão de Alianças Estratégicas Internacionais, Fusões e Aquisições. Com o objetivo de fazer a ponte entre a teoria e a prática, esforça-se continuamente por tornar cada experiência de ensino e aprendizagem teoricamente sólida e tão prática e aplicável quanto possível. Para o efeito, utiliza tecnologias de ensino e de aprendizagem. Seguindo uma abordagem construtivista de ensino e aprendizagem, envolve os alunos em projectos autênticos de resolução de problemas e de tomada de decisões com o objetivo de os ajudar a desenvolver competências complexas de resolução de problemas, bem como conhecimentos especializados no domínio.
Tem participado em vários projectos de investigação que envolvem organismos governamentais como o UK Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House), UK Trade and Industry department, The British Embassy in Angola, a Fundacao Eduardo dos Santos, e multinationais como MG Motor (former Rover), UNIPART, e outras.
