André Oliveira holds a PhD in International Health (Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Institute of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine), an MSc in Geographic Information Systems and Science (NOVA-IMS), and a degree in Geography and Regional Planning (Faculty of Letters, University of Lisbon).
He was a postdoctoral researcher at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon (CCIAM/CE3C), where he worked on adaptation to climate change, with a focus on modelling the impacts in Human Health.
Collaborated with the Directorate-General for Health between 2006 and 2010, within the scope of the development and management of the Public Health Emergency Support System (SSESP), an online epidemiological surveillance system integrating various technologies (production databases and information tools) geographic, among others) with the objective of controlling daily demand for emergencies in hospitals and health centers.
His research interests include modelling the impacts of climate and urban environments in Human Health, and Geographic Information Systems.
He has published in several academic magazines, such as Global and Planetary Change and Geospatial Health, among others, and is also the author of two chapters in books.
He is a researcher at Nova Cidade - Urban Analytics Lab, where he is involved in several projects in the areas of Sustainable Cities - Climate Driven Technologies for Low Carbon Cities (C-TECH) and Human Health - Data4Covid19, among others.
