He coordinates the Sound and Music Studies in Digital and Audiovisual Media Team (CysMus, 2021-), part of the SociMus group and the GTCC, and is a member of the Gender and Music Studies Group (NEGEM). His research focuses on the sociology of music, digital cultures, sexuality, and gender, with an emphasis on cultural industries, professions, technologies, and media literacies from the 20th century to the present. His publications include articles in national and international academic journals such as Aniki: Portuguese Journal of the Moving Image, Journal of Lusophone Studies, Cuadernos de Investigación Musical, and MusiMid: Brazilian Journal of Music and Media Studies, as well as chapters in edited volumes like Cross-Cultural Influences between Japanese and American Pop Cultures: Powers of Pop and My Kind of Sound: Popular Music and Audiovisual Culture. He has co-edited two books and presented at numerous academic conferences in Portugal and abroad. In his doctoral thesis, funded by FCT, he investigated 21st-century European audiovisual fiction, focusing on the representation of robots, AI, and cyborgs in music videos, video games, film, short films, television, and streaming platforms. His analysis encompassed producer and consumer perspectives, arguing that these representations reflect current cultural debates about the impact of digital technologies on the arts and social relationships. He has received several awards and merit-based grants, including a Merit Scholarship from the Directorate-General for Higher Education (DGES). Beyond his academic work, he presents films and documentaries, conducts workshops and masterclasses, exploring intersections between music, technology, and audiovisual media. He collaborates with the site esQrever, writing opinion pieces on music and LGBTQI+ culture, and contributes to publications in Público, JN, and Gerador. Additionally, he works as a music producer, developing solo compositions and projects for theater, photographic exhibitions, and digital and audiovisual formats.
