Ana Salgado is a lexicographer and researcher in the field of Language Sciences and the broader domain of Digital Humanities. She earned her PhD in Translation and Terminology from NOVA University Lisbon in 2022 and graduated in Modern Languages and Literature – Portuguese Studies (scientific branch) from the Faculty of Letters of the University of Porto in 2001. Currently, she serves as a researcher at the Linguistics Centre of NOVA University Lisbon and is a member of the LLT (Lexicology, Lexicography, and Terminology) group, contributing to the MORDigital project (DOI 10.54499/PTDC/LLT-LIN/6841/2020). Previously, she held a position as a research fellow in the ELEXIS infrastructure. She has been nominated as one of the COST National Coordinators for COST CA22126 – European Network On Lexical Innovation (ENEOLI) and serves as the co-leader of WG1 (Multilingual Glossary of Neology) within this COST.

As a lexicographer, Ana Salgado’s career began at the distinguished Portuguese publishing house Porto Editora, where she was responsible for numerous important lexicographic projects. She now holds the position of chief editor for the dictionaries of the Lisbon Academy of Sciences. Additionally, she serves as one of the editors responsible for the publication Thesaurus de Ciências da Terra of the same institution. Ana is a project leader in revising the standard ISO 1951:2007 and a member of the DARIAH Working Group Lexical Resources, contributing to the TEI Lex-0, a baseline encoding for lexicographic data.

She is a member of CT 221 – ‘Terminologia, Língua e Linguagens’ and president of CT221/SC4 ‘Gestão de Recursos Linguísticos’, and CT 025 – ‘Grandezas e Unidades’ at Portuguese Institute for Quality. Ana has been a correspondent member of the Lisbon Academy of Sciences since 2015 and was elected as a full member in 2022. Since 2023, she has been the president of the Institute of Lexicology and Lexicography of the Portuguese Language at the Lisbon Academy of Sciences.

Ana has authored and co-authored various scientific articles. Her primary research interests include lexicography, terminology, data modelling, TEI, digital humanities, and Portuguese text editing/proofreading. Her dedication to these fields is evident in her multifaceted roles and significant contributions to various projects and initiatives.
