I am a Senior Researcher specializing in Geospatial Data Science. My expertise spans data management and data quality check, complex spatial and temporal data modelling, and the application of spatial statistics techniques to real-world problems. I am an active researcher in the MagIC research group, contributing to the development of geospatial techniques and statistical approaches for data analysis, predictive analytics, geospatial modelling, and environmental research. My contributions include modelling geospatial phenomena and non-stationary processes using local modelling frameworks to address spatial problems. As part of my research work, I coordinated the development of geostatistical procedures to identify and remove non-climatic irregularities from data with yearly and monthly resolution. A software named gsimcli was designed and developed for the homogenisation of climate time series by two FCT grant holders (Sara Ribeiro and Júlio Caineta; PTDC/GEO-MET/4026/2012) under my supervision. The gsimcli software is freely available for download (https://github.com/iled/gsimcli). More recently, my research is focused on the development of models to capture local spatial effects, particularly Geographical Machine Learning approaches.
