NOVA School of Law at Universidade NOVA de Lisboa was founded in 1996 in order to challenge a rather conservative, traditional way of teaching and learning law in Portugal. The wide choice of optional credits and courses in underexplored areas (arbitration, bioethics, sport, foreign nationals, legistics, security) highlight the distinctive NOVA brand.
CEDIS is our main research centre. We host centres of public (community) service which also carry out some teaching and research: RAL (Alternative Dispute Resolution); ANTÍGONA (issues of discrimination, with a view to helping actual or potential victims); CPIC (copyright and patents legal issues).
