Profile Information

The NOVA School of Science and Technology (FCT NOVA) located at the Campus of Caparica (30 ha), south of Lisbon, is today one of the most prestigious Portuguese engineering and science schools.

With nearly 8 000 students, 440 academic (95% holding a PhD) and 200 non-academic staff, FCT NOVA is organized in 14 Departments, 16 R&D Units and 6 Support Services.

FCT NOVA participates in the consortia sponsored by the Portuguese State with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), University of Carnegie Mellon (CMU) and the University of Texas at Austin (UTA) offering some of its advanced study programmes. With an intensive relationship culture with the exterior, FCT NOVA has strong links with several Portuguese and Foreign Universities, related to the exchange of teachers or students in the framework of the existing 300 bilateral agreements or within the numerous European and National research projects.
