Profile Information

The training offered by the Department of Linguistics includes 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycle courses and a postgraduate course in e-learning, in addition to other training courses (free courses, lifelong training, etc.).

It is also the responsibility of the Department of Linguistics to teach all the subjects in the area of ​​Language Sciences that are part of other courses of 1st Cycle (Languages, Literatures and Modern Cultures, Portuguese Studies, Translation, Communication Sciences) and 2nd cycle (Masters Interdepartmental in Teaching, Text Editing, Translation) of NOVA FCSH.

The Department of Linguistics also offers training in courses in partnership with other institutions, such as the PhD in Translation and Terminology (with the University of Aveiro) and the PhD in Language Didactics - Multilingualism and Education for Global Citizenship, under b- learning (with the Open University).

Fourteen teachers are currently part of the Department of Linguistics: two full professors, four associate professors and eight assistant professors.

Most of the professors of the Department carry out research activities at the Linguistics Center of the NOVA University of Lisbon (CLUNL), also collaborating with other Research Units, NOVA FCSH and other institutions.
