Profile Information

The Department of Communication Sciences (DCC), pioneer in Portugal, is in its area the most searched department at national level, consistently, with the entry note of the last student placed the highest among all similar degrees of higher education public.

The project of excellence on which its degree is based continues with a wide and diversified offer of master's and doctoral courses.

In addition to the master's and doctoral degrees in Communication Sciences, with several specialties, the postgraduate offer includes:

Master's Degree in Performing Arts (in collaboration with the Departments of Music and Language Sciences, Cultures and Modern Literatures);
Master in Science Communication (in partnership with the Institute of Chemical and Biological Technology of NOVA);
Master in Journalism;
Master in New Media and Web Practice;
PhD in Digital Media, in partnership with the University of Texas, in the context of the UTAustin | Portugal Program;
PhD in Art Studies - Art and Mediation, in collaboration with the Department of Art History.

Post-graduation in Multi-platform Journalism;
Post-graduation in Communicating and Seizing in the Digital Age.
 

The faculty team, solidly prepared, are joined by faculty invited by their specialized knowledge.

Among the material resources to support education, research and community services are the LABCC - Communication Sciences Laboratory, which has a Television Studio and Régie, Video Editing Rooms, DCC Material Park and DCC Media Library. There are also iNova Media Lab and CITI - Research Center for Interactive Technologies.

Turning to the future, the Department of Communication Sciences strives to provide a solid and diversified training in a learning environment associated with research and intervention, to which partnerships with researchers, civil society organizations and the business community contribute.
