The International Conference Crossings in the Indian Ocean. Memory and Heritage aims at being a multidisciplinary meeting dedicated to the sharing of academic research that allows innovation in the field, at the same time bringing new dynamics to the scholarly community in general. Over time, the Indian Ocean has crystallized a set of routes and cultures that make it an important space in the contemporary worldview of the 21st century. Zanzibar, as a meeting point of this maritime cultural diversity, presents itself in a privileged position to allow the (re)thinking of the memory, tangible and intangible heritage, circulations and representations, contributing to open new perspectives which reconfigure its place within the mobility of the global world. We welcome proposals on the following topics: o Marine and Maritime Cultural Heritage o Memory and Tourism o Circulations and Representations o History of the Indian Ocean o Contemporary Reconfigurations o Indian Ocean Narratives
